In one of the most exciting and entertaining matches of the entire competition, Alt-M eliminated V(O)-Alb. But it was not easy. A 9-0 run put the winners ahead 10-3 and it seemed the match was all but over. But V(O)-Alb fought back and, with a 13-4 run, took a 14-16 lead. Then came the most important point of the match. It consumed 64 balls in play and lasted 2 minutes and 59 seconds. An Altuna III winner made it 15-16. Had V(O)-Albisu won the point, they would have been very difficult to beat. Then an 18 ball point was finished by a Victor winner. 15-17. The next point, 40 balls in play, finished by another Altuna III winner made it 16-17. Altuna III and Victor exchanged errors to make the score 17-18. Altuna III then finished the match with 3 winners, while Victor, whose winner gave his team their final point, also had an error, to go with one by Albisu. The final point consumed 29 balls in play and ended with a Victor winner that was low. The final 11 points consumed 200 balls in play, the entire match 459. In the end the 9 V(O)-Alb errors proved fatal. But this was as hard fought a match as you will see in a long time. V(O)-Alb finish next week with a meaningless match v Irribarria-Zabaleta in Iruna (Pamplona).
