The Sagardoaren Txapelketa IX features 8 Oriamendi2010 roster pairs (7 players from the A Group and 9 from the B Group). The tournament will be contested in two 4 team groups (A and B). Each team corresponds to a cider house sponsor. Letters following the players' names correspond to their Oriamendi2010 groups.

Of these pairs, only Segurola-Endika have ever won the Tournament. There are five players who did not play (except as substitutes) last year. They are Ansa II, Etxarri, and Goikoetxea V in the front; Labaka and Zaldua in the back.
The tournament will consist of a League phase, a single round robin in each group. There will be a change in how the Semi-finals are contested this year. The first and second place teams in each group will advance to a Semi-final League, a single round robin. At the end of the Semi-final League the top two teams will play in the Final on May 4. This format makes the League play more important. Under the old format, all teams advanced, but were seeded so that the teams that finished lower had to play more matches to get to the Final.
Scoring for the League phase will be as follows.

36-39: 2pts.
31-35: 1pt
26-30: 0pts.

The match ups in the first Semi-final Round of league play were intra-group matchups, and so the teams were familiar with each other. Still, the results were the same as they had been the first time around.

In a rematch of their March 30 Group B League match (won by E-G 40-37), Gurutzeta beat Oialume Zar again, this time on a brighter stage, to take 4 tournament points and, just as importantly, hold O Z to 1. Through the first 3/4 of the match, it was a very close match, with (E-G) ahead 28-26. The a 6-0 run put them in the lead for good. The star of the match was Ezkurra II (+23 -5). Barrenetxea IV did all he could (+16 with 7 service aces). Garces played a quietly efficient defensive game, helping keep points going until Ezkurra II could finish them. The point lost by G-B could become crucial later on.

The first Semi-final league match was a terrific match, which went down to the penultimate point. This was the second time the two teams have met in the Tournament, S-E also winning the first match 40-26. Segurola dominated that match and had another excellent, if not dominant match. In the 1st match he outscored Urriza +18 -0 to +17 -5. This time Urriza had a much better game, outscoring Segurola +24 -2 to +23 -4. According to the match article, they both played great matches. The difference this time was in the back court, where Endika, if not dominant, had the advantage. The match scoreboard was "always even" (google translate). It came down to the very end, when Zaldua faulted serving to tie the score at 39. He had the only two faults of the match. He matched Endika in service aces, but came a little short on offense in the rally. If all the semi-finals are played as well as this one, we are in for a real treat between now and the Final on May 4.
