Magic City Fronton, Miami Florida (1-- still photo from Magic City Hustle via WJCT 88.9 FM Radio News Story) (2--Wikipedia) hosted the First US National Jai Alai Championship (USNJAC) December 5-6, 2020. It was a Pro-Am Tournament, with Professionals from Magic City, Dania, Miami, and Calder Jai Alai (almost exclusively Quniela Jai Alai competitions), and amateurs from near and far. It consisted of Singles and Doubles Tournaments. 25 Doubles and 54 Singles matches were played, the vast majority being Partidos (to 6, 7, or 9 points). All partido matches were played with alternate serving. MC is a short (about 120 foot) court with glass front and back walls. The pelota used is a "soft ball", specially made in Hegoalde (South Basque Country) (error corrected February 26, 2021) to MC specifications, as glass walls cannot withstand the force of a traditional pelota.

There were over 13 hours of video during the two days. The entire Tournament was live streamed over the Jai Alai Channel Youtube (also available on demand) and commentary was provided by Stu Neiman and Andrew Blechman. The commentary was one of the best English language commentaries I have heard in my short time following the sport. Mr. Neiman in particular called the matches so closely that you could have listened on the radio and hardly missed the description of a single ball in play over the whole two days.

For those who did not watch the entire competition, or who might want to follow certain players or one Tournament all at once, I have directly linked to each match  below. I have also linked to end of Day 1 and end of Tournament brackets for both Tournaments, as well as the post Tournament ceremonies. I could not have done this without the help of  a member of Tiger's Chalk Talk Jai Alai Bulletin Board, the best source of current English Language Quiniela Jai Alai information I have seen. The information provided on the board put the results in chronological order (by type of Tournament) for both days, allowing me to easily index the video. It would have been next to impossible to tag each match without the Chalk Talk information.

Hopefully this will enhance your enjoyment of the Tournament. Please inform me of any errors at jbsolock1@gmail.com.

Enjoy
