Jai Alai/Cesta Punta--Internationaux Cesta Punta--Master 4 Tournament

The 2016 Donibane Lohizune (Saint-Jean-de-Luz) Internationaux Cesta Punta Masters competitions began on July 7, 2016 and run through August 25, 2016. At the ICP website, you will find scheduled matches, results, match articles, rules of the competition, player pages, and how the player points are determined, among other information.

The Master 4 Internationaux Cesta Punta Tournament was held at Donibane Lohizune (Saint-Jean-de-Luz) (1) (2) from August 9-16, 2016.

First Semi-Final Goikoetxea-Aldazabal defeated Beaskoetxea-Alliez 2-0 (15-7, 15-7)

Second Semi-Final: Hormaetxea-Eyheragaray (substituting for the injured Irastorza) defeated P. Tambourindeguy-Txasio 2-1 (9-15, 15-6, 5-1).

Final: Hormaetxea-Eyheragaray (substituting for the injured Irastorza) defeated Goikoetxea-Aldazabal 2-1 (10-15, 15-3, 5-4)

After winning the first set 15-10, G-A were serving with a 3-2 lead in the second set (37 minutes, 17 seconds on the recording). For the rest of the set, Hormaetxea played spectacularly and G-A never scored again, a run of 13 straight points. Though the tie-breaker could have gone either way, it was this run of great play that turned the match around and gave H-E their chance at victory.
