August 14, 2016:

Final

Larralde-Ducassou defeated Waltery-Guichandut (substituting for the injured Bilbao) 40-23

Bilbao was unable to play due to "bad hands" and Guichandut took his place. He and Waltary played well early and held a couple of  leads (6-4 and 9-7), but then L-D went on a 20-5 run and coasted home from there. They played exactly as one would expect the two highest ranked EP players to play. The match video for this match is particularly instructive to newer Main Nue fans, as two cameras were used, one from the back dugout and one from a high angle in front of the players. The editing was done expertly and it was easy to see what back courters have to contend with in order to defend the large scoring area behind them, or to follow the ball along the back dugout roof. After the 26-13 point, the match was stopped and a song was communally sung. For Guichandut and Ducassou, who also played in the Garat 50 point match on Tuesday, June 16 (moved from its usual Monday time--see the Main Nue recurring 50 point match results link on the right side of this page), this five day sequence contained three matches against each other and contested 208 total points. Ducassou's team won all three.
