HONDARRIBIA GRAND SLAM (JULY 22-OCTOBER 8, 2022).
The fourth of the 2022 Hegoalde (South Basque Country--Spain) Summer Partido Grand Slams, sponsored by Jai Alive 2.0 is being played at Jostaldi Fronton, Hondarribia (1-Frontons.net) (2-City--Wikipedia) from July 22-October 8, 2022. The competition begins with a play in Tournament to determine the final pair. There are 6 pairs divided into two groups (A and B). The League phase is a single round robin in each group. The top two pairs move on to the Semi Finals where Group A#1 played Group B#2 and Group B#1 played Group A#2. The two winners will play in a Final for the championship.
The best way to keep current with the Tournament, at present is via Jai Alive 2.0 Facebook.
The Play-in Tournament began on June 22 and ended on August 5. The Tournament began on August 12 and runs through October 8. Until EITB begins live streaming matches (probably Semi-final[s]) and Final, this post will track the outcomes of the League phase, team points, and relevant match articles and photos. Jai Alive 2.0 match articles will be Google translated into English below the scores. When EITB begins streaming, this will become a non spoiler/spoiler blog. Above the horizontal line barrier will be non spoiler, below will be spoiler with all the information I can gather. I am not planning to score any matches but the Final if EITB does not score them. Obviously EITB scoring, if available, takes precedence over mine.

Victory for Barandika-López in Hondarribia
Barandika-López won 2-0 (15-12 and 15-5) against Arbe-Lekue on the second day of the Hondarribia Grand Slam, before nearly three hundred spectators at the Jostaldi fronton. The match, the second to be played in the tournament, corresponds to group A.
Arbe-Lekue, qualified for the Grand Slam through the previous tournament played on the first three Fridays of this summer, did not accept the role of Cinderella and battled the theoretical favorites, especially in the first set.
The start of the game seemed to respond to the forecasts, because of Barandika-López they started strong and escaped to 7-2. Their maximum advantage was at 11-4 and it seemed that they had the set controlled at 13-9, but Arbe-Lekue got closer to 14-12, giving excitement to the final stretch. 15-12.
The Blues started commanding in the second set, 0-2, and continued ahead until 4-5. Nothing foreshadowed that the game was going to break the way it happened. From 4-5 it went to 15-5 in a set that lasted 26 minutes, for 32 of the first. Barandika-López showed their best game, they showed that they are fit and they warned the rivals of the tournament.

Goikoetxea-Zabala win in Hondarribia
This afternoon the Grand Slam of Hondarribia has started, in which six couples, divided into two groups, participate. The debut was with a group B match, in which Goikoetxea-Zabala beat Beaskoetxea-Lekerika 2-0 (15-11 and 15-10). The third couple in this group is Olharan-Etcheto.
A good start at the Jostaldi fronton, where the public was aware that the good times were starting today, with the best puntistas of the moment disputing this event that will run until October 8. Among the spectators, Tania Maiorga, champion of Mexico.

Arbe-Lekue enter the Grand Slam
Arbe-Lekue will participate in the Hondarribia Grand Slam, which will start next Friday and which already had five couples. The sixth has been decided through the Hondarribia Masters, a previous tournament that has been played in the first three days of this summer.

Hormaetxea-Aimar is one step ahead
Hormaetxea-Aimar have beaten Olha-Del RÃo this afternoon at the Jostaldi fronton and will play the final of the Hondarribia Masters, whose winner will advance to the Grand Slam. That will be next Friday and they will face Arbe-Lekue, winners on the first day.
